INFO

THE BIG PICTURE was the first single from Y Kant Tori Read's new self-titled album. Atlantic shot a promotional video in May 1988 to accompany the single. The Big Picture, Tori's first video, was directed by Marty Callner, famous now for Aerosmith videos and the early Whitesnake videos. This video has never been re-released in any collectible form, though clips of it has been aired during VH1's Behind The Music - Tori Amos special.

The video opens with an almost unrecognizable Tori confronting a Los Angeles police officer who is giving her a parking ticket. "Wait a minute--somebody broke into my car, took my underwear--that's gross!" Tori protests. The officer replies, "I'm sorry ma'am, I'm writing you a ticket; you're illegally parked," before walking away only to display a red garter belt in the back pocket of his uniform. The video moves on to Tori at the peak of her rock-chick era dancing and singing her way through a set of the streets of East L.A., stopping only to spray-paint graffiti on a few cars and one young man. -- All These Years Biography

"It took us all night to do the video," said Ellen [Tori] Amos. The Big Picture video even made it to MTV, though probably less than 10 showings.

The Big Picture has not been released in any collectible form.
