LYRICS

Not sayin'
Not charmed at all
Not sayin'
that you weren't worth
the fall
But I was alone when
I knew it was real
Down the canyon
when I knew I had come

To the line
Through the dawn
To the light
To the turn
When you said --

You could drive
all night
Drive all night

So I let Crazy
take a spin
Then I let Crazy
settle in
Kicked off my shoes
Shut reason out
He said "first let's just
unzip your religion
down"

Found that I
I craved at all
Saw me melt
into your
native shelter
Where you carved my
name
Paper tigers scare
and came

Alive
Through the dawn
To the light
To the turn
When you said --

You could drive
all night
Drive all night

So I let Crazy
take a spin
Then I let Crazy
settle in
Kicked off my shoes
Shut reason out
He said "first let's just
unzip your religion
down"
So I let Crazy
pull me in
Then I let Crazy
take his spin
Kicked off my shoes
Shut reason out
He said "first let's just unzip
your religion
down"
Heard that you were once
Temptation's Girl"

And as soon
as you have
rearranged the mess
in your head
He will show up looking
sane
perfectly sane
If I know Crazy

COMMENTS

At this point a character called CRAZY comes into Scarlet's life. "He makes a lot of sense and seems to take the pain away for a while so she follows him. "He's seductive and dangerous and its delicious. But you know that it's not forever because you can't hold on to him." Together they travel through cowboy country and back to the desert, before he abandons her in Tucson.

"I think Crazy provides, yes, stability. He's consistent and he's quite understanding...of madness. He's not afraid of it. And he's in control of it. So, I think in a way, that's very, um, seductive to Scarlet at this time. Because things have been unravelling and they haven't been consistent. And people who she thought was one way, or maybe not that way. And maybe she had certain beliefs that if you love somebody, you're can - you're gonna like them too. And that isn't necessarily true. They go for quite a spin. They go up through the Tetons, and up over Bear Tooth Pass back into Montana, yet again. And um, you know, go around Crazy Horse's stomping ground and then they come through Cody. And swoop back, um...through Jackson Hole. They were there already -- had a hottub. And then they tip through Idaho for a moment and get into Utah. And in that gorgeous canyon country, where they're alone and...being alone in the desert with a man is something that Scarlet seems to like doing. (laughs) It's kinda, it's kinda handy because, um, there's nobody else around to distract him. All focus is on them relating to each other."
