Spark was the first single to be
released in the UK from the album, From The Choirgirl
Hotel. Part one
included two non-LP Tori originals: the beautiful Purple People (Christmas
In Space) and Bachelorette (not to be confused with Björk's
Bachelorette). This disc also includes a bittersweet cover of Have Yourself A Merry
Little Christmas written by Martin/Blane. Part two is a limited edition
containing the non-LP cover of Steely Dan's Do It Again.
One of Tori's most gorgeous originals, that was left
off of both Boys For Pele and Choirgirl albums, (and one of Tori's own personal favourites), Cooling also
graced the Part 2 edition.
The part two single is a limited edition that includes three collectable
color-photo postcards. Both parts contain identical picture CDs. Spark was also
released in Germany (AT0031CD), France (AT0031CD2), and Australia, tracklistings identical to the UK releases.
Tori's Spark video
premiered in the UK on The Chart Show on ITV Saturday morning, April 18, 1998.
Spark entered the UK CIN Singles Chart at #16 for the week ending April 26, 1998.
However, in its second week,
Spark dropped to #38 on for the week ending May 3 1998.
