Boys For Pele

The third US Boys For Pele single was
Tori's first release targeted for club play and her
first US 12" release ever. The 12" and CD contain
gorgeous artwork of a radiant Tori. There was a
promotional poster released just prior to the single
featuring a shot from the same session. Atlantic correctly predicted
a number one club hit in June when an advance promotional 12" was
serviced to clubs. Remixes were done by Armand Van Helden
and MK, two of the premier underground producers
of the moment. The 12" entered the Billboard "Dance/Club play" chart
at number 37 and four weeks later on July 27th, reached number one and stayed there
for two weeks. This was Tori's second number one single, the first being
God ("Modern Rock Tracks" chart). Although
Professional Widown hit number one on the "Dance/Club play"
chart, it only reached number 108 on the Billboard "Top 200 Singles"
chart. The CD single clocks in at over forty minutes and contains six
remixes of Professional Widow as well as the LP version.
The 12" contains four remixes. The commercial 12" contains exactly the same tracks as the white-sleeved promotional 12"
released in June.
